Back to Lisa and the Law

We shook hands on the deal, is that ok?

Uhhhh, no. I take that back. It is ok until you disagree and then it is definitely not ok as there is nothing in writing to support your position. Even if both parties to a business dispute are honest, it is rare that any two people remember things the same way which makes a handshake deal hard to enforce. This is where attorneys who litigate make their money. If you have written contracts, great, but do they have all the terms appropriate for you and your specific business? If you are selling your business (or thinking about it), have you anticipated the tax ramifications. Come to our FREE seminar on 11/20/25 (this THURSDAY at noon) for a discussion of essential business contracts and Buy/Sell Agreements. Chad Denson, EA (of David Oase, CPA, P.C.) will join me so we can pick his brain on general tax ramifications of various contract clauses. Click HERE to register.
