Tax Credits for Health Care Insurance Enrollees on the Marketplace ending

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (“OBBBA”), signed by the President on July 2, 2025 did not extend enhanced premium credits for the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) health insurance marketplace plans. As a result, when open enrollment begins on November 1, 2025, marketplace enrollees will see their monthly premiums increase as there will be no subsidies. Beginning December 31, 2025, marketplace enrollees who received tax credits toward their health insurance in 2025 and exceeded their estimated their qualifying income for 2025 will be required to repay the full amount they received.
