Current time to obtain tax exempt status is approximately 11 months

One of my clients just received a letter approving the corporation’s tax-exempt status under IRS code 501(c)(3). Caveat, the request for tax exempt status was filed in September 2024 by my client’s CPA and we had to amend the Articles of Incorporation to comply with the new administration’s guidelines for non-profit organizations to obtain tax-exempt status. Had we not had to make an amendment to the Articles of Incorporation based on a government policy change, my client might have received the tax-exempt status a month sooner.
