If You File Your Business’ BOIR Yourself – Don’t Get Scammed

If you are going to file your BOIR yourself, be sure you know what it should contain (especially if you are in a community property state like Arizona) so that it is accurate. Use the ACTUAL FinCEN website to file your BOIR (https://www.fincen.gov/boi). There are many imposter websites out there that appear to be the FinCEN website but are not. After you have provided all of your information to the imposter website, it will charge you to actually file the BOIR. Filing with FinCEN is free so if you are going to assume the responsibility of filing yourself, do it free of charge. If you are paying to have your BOIR done for you, make sure you are getting value for your money.

Also, FinCEN is NOT going to call, email, text or send you a letter. If any person or business reaches out to you purporting to be FinCEN, it is a SCAM. FinCEN has been very clear that it will not be reaching out to individual businesses or business owners.
