Getting Ready to File your 2024 Personal Income Tax Returns, request electronic payment of any refund

As of October 1, 2025, the IRS will no longer be sending paper checks to pay tax refunds. If you are on an extension for filing your personal income tax returns and you are expecting a refund, request electronic payment for your refund to avoid any delays in processing during the transition from paper checks to all electronic transactions with the IRS. Also, if you owe taxes, you should pay those taxes electronically to avoid any assessment of penalties (rightfully or wrongfully).
