If you own multiple businesses, any transactions between those entities should be documented in writing. Agreements such as commercial leases, service agreements, and equipment leases help preserve the separate legal status of each entity, clarify responsibilities, and create a clear record of the arrangement. Proper documentation is an important part of maintaining liability protection and good business practices. Failure to properly document these relationships can create issues during tax audits, regulatory reviews, due diligence investigations, or business disputes, and may undermine the legal separation between your entities.
